10 The God Dilemma

Pure existence godbeing in my own awake space,
Self-existent traveler through the quantum cosmos,
Stirred awake as I dream, I know  you are real!
Please banish my illusions. I want union with thee!

Dissolve my life into the ocean of being!
Take me beyond love and pain and death!
I want to know who you are! Right now!
My life is in fragments. I am on my last breath.

Yes, living paradox of love and truth,
My heart rebels to hear what you say.
When I merge into you, there will be no shadows.
I will not be there to claim that I know.

Hidden Dragon! There is no escape!
What is a prayer but confession in death?
No one will greet me on the plane of self-knowing.
Do what you will! I have no more to say.

Fire of Life! Fire of Life! Nothing to be!
Fire of Life! Fire of Life! Nothing to be!
Fire of Life! Fire of Life! Nothing to be!

Beneath the veils of light, within the dark waters of pure existence, something eternally stirs. Something mysterious knows itself more intimately than any lovers know each other. Existing in full knowledge of its boundless being, it both affirms and denies itself. In its knowing, existence and non-existence embrace each other with infinite energy, sending waves of pure existence godbeings into the void to carry out the eternal struggle for absoluteness. Within those waves, the helplessness of the mission is veiled over in a myriad of formed realities. Panicked godbeings become dreaming buddhas, settling down into an eternity of evasions. Disguised as creators, they conceal their infinite astonishment that they exist. Their life is a continual bemusement over dream beings struggling in their consciousness. They avoid dealing with the fact that these dream beings belie their godbeing terror about unmanageability of pure existence within itself.

This is the situation behind all creation, which is an infinite collection of godbeing/buddha dream realities, of which the human condition is one possibility of one godbeing playing itself out. As human beings awaken to discover what is at work behind their reality, they choose one of two paths—and there are only two—the one that affirms existence and the other which negates existence. There is nothing false about either of these positions. Earthplanet plane is one ground upon which this eternal struggle reveals itself, never offering solutions and only giving itself expression to keep uncertain the awful ambiguity that must never be faced.

Godbeings that manifest and sustain individual human lives are waves of this struggle arising out of a greater godbeing (a dreaming buddha) needing to justify its existence through the formed dream reality that is earthplanet plane. From its energetic position within the cosmos of godbeing adventurers, it cannot enter the life of its human dreamed beings. So, it manifests less energetically potent waves of itself to carry the dilemma of pure existence into its dream creation, imbuing these offspring godbeings with the desire to enter individual human lives. Their purpose is to recruit them as a means of exploring godbeing status within the untold possibilities of human life stories and through those stories to manifest something to justify the greater godbeing’s existence.

Look at whatever issue you have put on the table to which this prayer is the response. Sitting opposite you is a godbeing who is now pounding its fist on the table and saying, “Wake up!” That troublesome issue, no matter how spiritual it may sound, is part of the dream veil that the godbeing is using to cover itself until you are ready to contact real spiritual energy.

Once you have made contact and have sought succor within the security of “God,” you have to understand that your life story is no longer yours and that “you” are not really "you.” The life that will be acted out through your vehicles of mind, body and heart will be generated out of the godbeing itself, which carries within it numerous seed possibilities it would like to explore in the context of the human condition. This is the true nature of ego dissolution. When it assumes complete control of your vehicles, your personal issues will vanish along with the being you think you are. You are, in fact, and always have been the godbeing itself. In drawing this prayer card, you are making a reality check. Are you ready to deal with the ultimate dilemma—“I am real!” and “I am not real!”? Are you ready for the truth about “God”?

Advanced Commentary
Upon the point of realization that pure existence is the reality beyond which there can be no aspiration, the human voice stands on the verge of annihilation. It knows that its human existence is illusory and wants to escape its falseness, which, nevertheless, still governs its interpretation of pure existence as “thee.” As long as it sees pure existence as other, it remains in the human condition.

The urgency of the pure existence reality overcomes all resistance and reveals itself in the cries of the human voice to dissolve itself into the fire of life. It will surrender love, pain and death, which are the cornerstones of its human existence, in order to know what is surging through its being. So powerful is that force, the human voice demands to know it directly and at the same time realizes that this is it. The next two stanzas are the last stages of realization before its human voice ceases to exist. There is a finality here not only for an individual human voice but also for the race as a whole.

Its final cognizance as a human being is to realize the final truth of its human existence. It knows that the deepest foundation of human life is love, which stands in paradoxical contradistinction with what it wants as truth. Love rebels. The final truth of human existence is that it can contain no truth. “No one will greet me on the plane of self-knowing” because direct self-knowing is a godbeing condition, not a human one.

In the Hidden Dragon stanza, the human voice realizes that it is trapped. It cannot retreat from its certain extinction. There is no point in prayer. What is about to occur is absolute.

From within the waves of pure existence, the seed of the human condition contains the seed of its non-existence. The recognition of the human voice that it is not real is a truth Hidden Dragon presents to itself as another paradoxical realization: “Nothing to be.”
